First Communion

Catholics understand the Eucharist, or Holy Communion, as both a sacred meal and a sacrifice. It reflects our belief in the true presence of Jesus Christ, who gave His life for our redemption. When we partake in the Body and Blood of Christ, we are spiritually nourished and drawn into a deeper relationship with God.

At baptism, a child becomes part of the Church community and begins to share in Christ’s roles as priest, prophet, and king. This marks the start of their faith journey, which continues with receiving the Eucharist and later, the Sacrament of Confirmation. Together, these three—Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation—are called the Sacraments of Initiation and are essential to becoming a full member of the Catholic Church.

First Communion is an important milestone in your child’s spiritual growth, often celebrated with joy and anticipation. Families are invited to take an active role in this time of preparation by praying and studying together as their child gets ready to receive both the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Communion.

If you are helping your child get ready for First Communion, please reach out to the Parish office to learn more about the preparation classes.
